Jonathan Gresham vs. Josh Woods
- Updated: January 23, 2020
ROH Saturday Night at Center Stage January 11:
The match started with a good amount of mat wrestling with nobody getting a clear advantage. Following a low blow, Gresham brought Woods straight to the mat in a submission move. Once Woods got out of the submission, he suplexed Gresham with an overhead belly to belly and a German. The submissions appear to have had an impact on Woods’ knee as it prevented him from running the ropes, but Wood’s did catch Gresham out of the air into a fireman’s carry. Josh hit Jonathan with a gut wrench suplex but Gresham blocked a second attempt and went for a figure four that Woods escaped via rope break.
The most serious near fall of the match came when Woods hit a high knee on Gresham coming off the top rope. A few moments later, Woods went for a vertical suplex and both men toppled to the outside. Young and Lethal tossed their men back in the ring causing the referee to eject both, but prior to leaving Lethal hit Woods in the back of his knee with the tag title belt. Gresham would lock in the figure four leg lock on the outside and waited for the 16 count before breaking the hold. He broke, rolled in, and won the match via count out when Woods couldn’t get back in the ring.
