Minutes to Bell Time

Sammy Guevara vs. Darby Allin

AEW Revolution February 29

Darby Allin entered the ring and immediately rushed across the ring to hit a tope on Sammy before Justin Roberts could even finish his introduction. Allin followed up with a shotgun dropkick into the barricade and an Irish whip into the barricade. As Darby charged, Sammy evaded and Darby crashed into the barricade. Draping Sammy Guevara over the barricade, Darby Allin hopped back in the ring and hit a suicide dive, but he missed most of the dive and collided with the barricade.

Sammy set up a table on the floor, put Darby on the table, climbed to the top rope, and hit a 630 through Darby and the table. Both men crawled into the ring, and the bell finally rang to start the match.

Darby put Guevara in the Gory Special and then a Fujiwara arm bar before Sammy could get to the ropes. Darby hit a destroyer, but Sammy caught him climbing to the top rope. Sammy ran up the ropes and connected with a Spanish Fly (but he nearly fell off the top). While the referee was checking on Darby, Guevara pulled off the top turnbuckle. Darby evaded the attack by Sammy causing Guevara to crash into the exposed turnbuckle. After a stunner and a coffin drop, Darby Allin got the pinfall victory.

While the match was less than 5 minutes, I’m still going to rate the match based on the fact that so much happened before the bell.
