                    WWE SmackDown RECAP – July 9, 2021

                    *Roman & Heyman to the ring…Edge is a liar for saying Roman fears him…the only reason Edge got to him was because he was preoccupied with family issues…Jimmy Uso to the ring, asks Roman if he was on vacation last week…Roman says he wasn’t on vacation, he was doing Jimmy’s job, too…Jey Uso to the ring, he’s back & wants him & Jimmy to get back to the business of becoming 7x tag champs…Roman likes that idea, “No one can touch us if we’re on the same page & do it my way”…the cousins embrace.

                    *Baron Corbin backstage with Kayla…he’s lost everything, therefore he HAS to win his MitB qualifier…he makes his way to the ring with no entrance music…after the commercial, Big E. makes his way to ringside (in a Ding Song, Hello shirt) where his couch & fridge are set up…on the ‘tron we see Kingsuke & Boogsarrive in Corbin’s repossessed SUV that they bought at auction…

                    (1)  MitB Qualifier: Kingsuke Nakamura defeats Baron Corbin…Corbin attacks Nakamura on the ramp during his entrance, Boogs pulls Corbin off & tosses him into the barricade…Kinshasa for the win (>10:58 match starts in the commercial break).

                    (2)  Shotzi/Nox  defeats Natty/Tamina…non-title…Shotzi hits the “Ball Pit” (top buckle senton) on Natty for the win (03:15)…they are announced simply as Shotzi & Nox, but Cole refers to “Tegan Nox” more than once during the match…stay tuned to see of she gets the Riddle treatment.

                    *Edge backstage with Megan…he’s going to call out Roman later, will Roman “have the jewels to come out without Dumb & Dumber?”

                    *Sonya to the ring, announces Bayley’s injury…Bayley on the ‘tron, “You fans don’t care, so it’s your fault!”…Sonya announces Bianca will not defend at Money in the Bank, but rather next Friday in front of the 1st live crowd & it will be against Carmella…Carmella out, she corrects Sonya’s intro (she forgot “Most beautiful…”)…Liv Morgan interrupts, bitches at Sonya because she’s still not in the MitB match…Sonya informs Liv she will replace Carmella in the ladder match…Bianca out at the top of the ramp, she questions if Bayley’s injury is real, but she respects her competitive skills (PLEASE PICK A CHARACTER, HEEL OR FACE)…Bianca accepts Carmella as her challenger (not that anyone asked) & will see her next week.

                    *Roman in his Locker Room…Heyman informs him Edge has questioned his manhood.

                    *Toni Storm vignette…COMING SOON TO SMACKDOWN!

                    (3)  MitB Qualifier: Seth Rollins defeats Cesaro…Kevin Owens joins the announce team…Rollins rips a turnbuckle pad off as Cesaro yanks him out of the corner…Rollins goes for the Stomp, Cesaro catches him & counters with a lift into powerbomb position, Rollins counters that with a ‘rana & send Cesaro into the exposed metal ring, busting open Cearo’s forehead…Cesaro is not the same the rest of the match…Rollins DDT’s him on the ramp…a wobbly Cesaro falls victim to the Stomp for the win (18:18).

                    *Jimmy & Jey head into Edge’s locker room to “get” him…Edge is not there.

                    *Seth Rollins backstage with Kayla…celebrating his victory…last time he won MitB, he cashed in on…who?…Roman!…Edge walks by, tells Seth that while he bitches about not being given opportunities, Edge goes out & TAKES them!

                    *Alpha Academy backstage…Chad, “If you step to the Alpha Academy”…Otis, “I will destroy anyone!”

                    *Edge to the ring…calls out Roman…Roman tells the Usos to stay in the locker room & he heads out…before Roman can sashay to the ring, Jey decides “something doesn’t feel right” & the Usos head to the ring…Roman is not pleased, tells the Usos he will handle this himself…Roman into the ring, brawl commences…Jimmy & Jey can’t just watch, as they get up on the apron the Mysterios’ music hits, turning the Usos attentions up the ramp…Rey & Dom attack with chairs from behind…meanwhile Edge hits the Edgecution DDT on Roman, sets up for the Spear but the Usos get away from the Mysterios & attack Edge, allowing Roman to roll out & head up the ramp…Edge & the Mysterios then get the upper hand on the Usos…Jimmy gets the metal bar crossface as Roman watches…then Jey gets it…back to Jimmy…when Roman can’t watch any longer, he simply walks off as the show ends!
