Adam’s Take on PWA’s Call to Arms

“Adam’s Take on PWA’s Call To Arms” comes from Contributor “Alcoholic” Adam Pokrajac. Pokrajac routinely provides the cold hard truth on Australian Wrestling with a heavy focus on New South Wales. He believes this is the most under appreciated wrestling scene in the world today and he reviews it with a beer in his hand.

Update: Adam’s Take on PWA’s Call to Arms Results

Big Fudge, Jay Sorbet, Cherry Stephens v Team Hoose (Ben Braxton, Dazza & Parker Thomas)

Cherry Stephens rolls up Parker Thomas with a schoolgirl for the win.

Jimmy Townsend v Kai Drake

Spencer isn’t there so the match is made into a singles match. Jimmy gets distracted by his own partner. This leaves an opening for Drake to hit a Michnoku Driver and pin Jimmy.

Tree Hugger Luchi v Donnie Mako

Luchi wins with a dolphin clutch pin with his hands on the ropes.

Kingsley v AJ v Will Kiedis v Rhys Angel

AJ hit a pump handle facebuster and Rhys Angel took advantage by pushing AJ out of the ring. Angel scores the win. Could we see the end of hero’s with Angel?

Charli Evans v Jessica Troy Non-Title

Plenty of false finishers with great back and forth action. In the end, Jess won with a crucifix pin.

Speed Force (Jude “The Dude” London (C) & Mat Rogers) v Lex Lennock & Jack Pain

Jack Pain replaced the originally planned Silvio. Pain eats a double foot stomp and a pump handle slam. The match ends with Speed Force picking up the win.

Steph De Lander v Billy Preston

Steph wins in a very convincing fashion.

Team HVWA (Robbie Eagles, Mat Diamond & Mick Moretti) v Matty Wahlberg, Paris De Silva & Sam Osbourne

In an all out brawl, everyone fought tooth and nail to fight for what they believe. It was the old guard vs. the new generation.

The match broke down early with most of the fighting taking place outside. This lead to some insane spots such as Moretti’s dive off the wall and Wahlberg with a double leg takedown into the stairs.

In the end, Robbie Eagles pinned Paris.

Side Note: Bel has a breakdown after getting told to “f### off” serval times. A calming figure put a hand on her back to comfort her, so we will continue to follow to see where that goes.

Call to Arms

Call to Arms comes from the Australian Promotion Pro Wrestling Australia and takes place on August 8th at 6AM Eastern Time (8PM Local Time in Australia). Details on how  you can watch the event can be found on their website.

Charli Evans v Jessica Troy (C) Non-Title

For the opening contest, we have a battle within the Nations. Charli and Jessica members are both members of the most feared faction in wrestling, and they team as Team Blue Nation whenever the wrestle for shimmer.

For those who don’t Charli and Jess were co-owners of the PWWA championship so in this match we will find out who is better of the two.

What’s the old expression? “No one hits your harder than your best friend.” It’s to be expected that this match will be very physical, very stiff.

Adam’s Take on PWA’s Call to Arms Prediction: In a barn burner of a match Jess will win due to her slight technical edge leading to Charli submitting to Jess’s Fujuwara armbar.

MK Plus Ultra (Kai Drake & Michael Spencer) v Prefects (Jimmy Townsend & Billy Preston)

Pre COVID-19, MK Plus Ultra dominated the tag division. They claimed to be the PWA tag team champions after defeating current champions The Velocities via count-out. They outright stole the championships after their match.

But the prefects have an X-Factor with the recent inclusion of Cherry. What role could she potential play to aid the Prefects?

Adam’s Take on PWAs Call to Arm’s Prediction: Prefects will win due to a distraction from the Velocities leaving MK Plus Ultra vulnerable to the deadliest move in pro wrestling the schoolboy.

Sam Osborne looks to go 4-0

In the most recent episode of behind the label, Osborne has made it perfectly clear that he wants to be involved again in the prestigious Colosseum.

Adam’s Prediction: We could have a qualifying match for the tournament. If this comes to fruition, Alcoholic Adam wagers a a 6 pack of Corona on “Heartbreak” Shazza McKenzie. Shazza has been a PWA lifer and can bring humility to Osborne. Just the same, Osborne has too much momentum and will make Shazza submit with a heel hook.

Steph De Lander v Rhys Angel v Will Kiedies v Kingsley

For this contest, it’s the future of PWA fighting tooth and nail to show who is the most likely to break out also each competitor is so unique in their style. Steph De Lander with her sheer presence and aura. Rhys’ work rate always putting on a clinic in the ring.

Kiedis isn’t the brains of North Shore Wrestling for nothing. He always has a master plan to pick up the victory and Kingsley is consistency in the right place at the right time.

Adam’s Prediction: Kieidis for the win it’s just too hard to bet against him.

Donnie Mako vs Tree Hugger Luchi

In the promo that Mako and Jay Sorbet delivered, it seemed like they were building towards a match with team Hoose. Instead, we have this match with Luchi.

There are a lot of variables in this match like. What role will Sorbet play? Will team Hoose make an appearance to even up the odds?

Adam’s Prediction: Not knowing if Team Hoose will show up gives the obvious numbers advantage to Mako. Sorbet causes a ruckus on the outside Mako wins

Speed Force (Mat Rogers & Jude “The Dude” London”)”(C)) v Silverbacks (Silvio Milano & Lex Lennock)

Mat Rogers has been substituted for this match limiting the size advantage that the Silverbacks have over Jude’s more common partner Paris De Silva.

But still, the Silverbacks have a size advantage. As an outlier in this match, Jude could make a massive difference  with his speed and athleticism.

The Tag Team chemistry advantage of the Silverbacks has to be considered when predicting the winner of this match. Rogers and Jude don’t team as often as Silvio and Lex.

Something else that needs to be considered is whether MK Plus Ultra get involved costing speed force the match?

Adam’s Prediction: In a match that will be extremely beefy, the Silverbacks will come out on top due to knowing each other’s tendencies.

Team HVWA (Robbie Eagles & Mat Diamond & ??? v Matty Wahlberg & ????

The 21st century success story Matty Wahlberg feels some of the older heads of PWA are holding back some of the younger talent. If the older guard doesn’t step away, they will stomp them out.

Wahlberg mentioned in the promo with Robbie Eagles that there is a “whole generation of guys and girls that want to answer your open challenge”

As the 3rd person of team HVWA, there have a few options. They could choose an HVWA alumni who was also a backyarder with Robbie and Diamond or they may choose one of the more experienced wrestlers in PWA like Madison Eagles or Mick Moretti.

Matty could choose the current no.1 contender for the PWA Heavyweight championship “Tuff Stuff” Ricky South. Ricky has steadily become an overwhelming crowd favorite and also seeks to take down the current champion Caveman Ugg, who has had it extremely easy since winning the title from Bronson Reed (F.K.A Jonah Rock).

Another option for Wahlberg is the Head Hunter Rig. As one of the most under appreciated talents not only in Australia but in the world, he has been honing his craft for a while. PWA does tends to just throw him into random multi person matches.

Adam’s Prediction: In this battle of New School vs Old School, team HVWA will come out on top due leveraging the tag team experience of Diamond and Robbie.
