New Raw Tag Team Champions Crowned on Monday Night Raw

On last night’s episode of Raw, the Alpha Academy put a surprising end to the 142 day reign of Randy Orton and Riddle (RK-Bro).

Even before “Raaaaandy” and Riddle won the titles from AJ Styles and Omos at SummerSlam, most fans assumed that RK-Bro was thrown together as a means to eventually have them split up and start a singles feud.

We all kept waiting for that split to come . . .  and it didn’t . . . and it didn’t . . . and it didn’t. Why didn’t the split ever happen?

Perhaps the reason that The Viper and The Original Bro split didn’t come is because the “RK-Bro” team got over and became highly marketable. Just how marketable you ask? Let me break it down for you.

The Randy Orton Page on WWE Shop has a total of 49 products, and I count 22 of them as RK-Bro items. That’s almost half of the Randy Orton merchandise.

The percentage of products pertaining to RK-Bro is even higher over on The Riddle Page of WWE Shop where there are a total of just 30 products with 21 of them being RK-Bro items.

This is an enormous amount of merchandise for a WWE Tag Team. By contrast, the current Smackdown Tag Team Champions The Usos only have three items as can be seen on Jimmy Uso’s Page on WWE Shop. The majority of gear on Jimmy’s page pertains to the “Bloodline.”

What’s even more interesting is that the new Raw Tag Team Champions, Otis and Chad Gable, don’t have a single piece of merchandise available on WWE Shop yet. I’ll keep my eyes peeled and let you know when that first Alpha Academy item hits the shop. For now, you’ll have to settle for the very few items available on The Otis Page of WWE Shop . . . and all those items seem like they came from another lifetime.

So now that you’ve seen how marketable RK-Bro is within WWE Shop, how long do you think the team will last? Will Randy and Riddle square off at WrestleMania or will we see them make another run for the Tag Titles? Only time will tell, but if you want to commemorate this tag title change by picking up any of the merchandise we’ve talked about here – feel free to use my promo code WWESAVE10 to save $10 off your purchase of $70 or more on WWE Shop.
