January 26, 2022 – AEW Dynamite

*BEACH BREAK 2022 is live from Cleveland, OH.

(1)  Sammy Guevara defeats Cody Rhodes…in a LADDER MATCH to unify the TNT Championship…around the 20 minute mark Fuego del Sol comes to the ring & gets in Cody’s face…he is quickly handled with a Tigerdriver…Cody & Sammy both get to the top of the 10 foot ladder…Sammy uses one of the belts (still hanging) to blast Cody in the face & send him crashing to the mat…Sammy now has plenty of time to remove the belts & claim them for the win (24:17)…AFTER…Sammy celebrates with a hug from Fuego.

*Ricky Starks & Powerhouse Hobbs are out at a snow-covered beach for an interview with Tony…Hobbs challenges Dante Martin to a rematch…Starks officially accepts Jay Lethal’s challenge for an FTW Championship match on Rampage in Chicago.

(2)  Wardlow defeats Elijah Dean & James Alexander (aka: What happens when you order FTR from Wish)…in a HANDICAP MATCH…tonight’s Powerbomb Symphony is in 6 parts (2 for Alexander, 4 for Dean) with the final movement being a powerbomb of Dean onto Alexander & a double stack pin with a foot on the chest for the win (01:22).

(3)  Chris Jericho & Santana/Ortiz defeat Daniel Garcia & 2point0…the Inner Circle is having issues from the very start…multiple blind tags, pissing each other off repeatedly…Jericho seems to be contemplating leaving, he’s on the floor…Lee rolls up Santana, the kick out sends Lee to the ropes where Jericho delivers the Judas Effect from floor…Lee staggers back into the clutches of Santana, who spikes him with a Piledriver for the win (09:07)…AFTER…Jericho continues to bark unpleasantries at Santana & Ortiz in the ring, as he backs up the ramp & leaves alone.

*Lance Archer promo…his title fight will be a Texas Death Match…this news catches Hangman Page off guard for a moment, but that’s fine with him because he’s coming back from the abyss & bringing hell with him.

*Jurassic Express, Christian, & Hardy Party backstage with Tony…the #1 ranked Private Party get their shot at the tag titles this week on Rampage.

*CM Punk to the ring, dressed to fight…he gets the crowd to chant for the man he wants to fight tonight, MJF…Punk shows off his “trophy” from last week, MJF’s scarf…MJF out in front of the ‘tron, he has no plans to waste his performance on Cleveland…they’ll fight next week in Chicago…after which, MJF says Punk will walk away from the fans once again…Wardlow & FTR join MJF on the stage & they’re headed to the ring…Shawn Spears attacks Punk from behind…FTR beat Punk down & hold him for a chair shot from Spears…Wardlow powerbombs Punk onto the chair…MJF sits, cross-legged on Punk’s chest to deliver his final message…”see you in Chicago.”

*The Acclaimed promo…they haven’t forgotten their past run ins with Jon Moxley…Friday on Rampage Bowens plans to beat Mox’s ass.

*Griff Garrison & Julia Hart backstage with Tony…Mark Sterling interrupts, says Jade has chosen Julia as her next opponent for the TBS Championship…Griff doesn’t think it’s a good idea but Julia cuts him off…says she can fight her own battles.

(4)  Leyla Hirsch defeats Red Velvet…Leyla catches Red Velvet’s attempted spinning back kick & counters into a Roll Up with a handful of tights for the win (08:24)…AFTER…Leyla attacks again, sinks in the cross armbreaker…Kris Statlander races down for the save…Leyla rolls out & avoids Statlander.

*House of Black promo…they declare that Pac & Death Triangle will be humbled.

*Britt Baker to the ring for an interview with Tony…all her accomplishments & awards are on display in the ring & Britt is wearing her hometown colors of black & yellow, waving her own DMD “Terrible Towel” which garners heat from the Cleveland crowd before she even opens her mouth…she says the AEW Women’s Division was a wasteland before her & she made it into a Utopia…& she did it all with a “broken freakin’ wrist” (not even her Pittsburgh neighbor Kurt Angle is safe from her gimmick infringement)…she is, finally, a Baker that Cleveland can count on!

*Nyla Rose (& Vicky) out in front of the ‘tron…Nyla wants Ruby Soho for costing her the TBS Championship.

(5)  Orange Cassidy defeats Adam Cole…in a LIGHTS OUT MATCH…at the 2 minute mark Cole pulls a chair from under the ring & Danhausen comes along with it…after the crowd pop, Danhausen heads up the ramp without affecting the match…around the 5 minute mark Cole blocks a Cassidy punch with the ring bell…Brandom Cutler is cut off by Wheeler Yuta before he can interfere…Bobby Fish is thwarted by Chuck Taylor…the Young Bucks are chased from the ring by Roppongi Vice…Cole goes for a low blow, but Cassidy is wearing a cup lined with thumbtacks…Cassidy delivers Panama Sunrise on its’ creator, but only get a 2 count…the fight spills backstage, then back out in front of the ‘tron…Cole climbs a set piece next to the tunnel…Cassidy follows & returns the favor with a low blow uppercut to the unprotected groin of Cole…Cassidy gives Cole a hug & ensuing struggle sends them both off the raised platform, crashing through a gimmicked portion of the stage where Cassidy covers for the win (14:28).
