July 2nd Smackdown

WWE SmackDown RECAP – July 2, 2021

*Edge to the ring…he could complain about Daniel Bryan costing him the title at Mania, but he won’t (even though he just did)…but he KNOWS he can beat Roman 1-on-1…“I am inevitable.”

(1)  KING Nakamura/Big E. defeat Apollo/Corbin…Corbin purposely letting his hair grow just enough to reveal his receding hairline, gray showing in his facial hair, looks absolutely miserable…Boogs interrupts the match to announce a white Mercedes SUV is being towed…of course, it’s Corbin’s & he can see it on the ‘tron…distraction allows Big E to hit the Big Ending on Corbin for the win (08:58).

*Bayley in the ring, “Bianca is nothing compared to me”…Bianca to the ring…admits Bayley is in her head, so she needs to embarrass her to make her go away…Bianca proposes an “I Quit” match at MitB…Bayley accepts.

*Jimmy asks Heyman where Roman is…before Paul can speak, Jimmy convinces himself Roman is waiting for Jimmy to show him something…Jimmy heads off to ask Pearce/Sonya for a shot at Edge tonight.

(2)  MitB Qualifier: Kevin Owens defeats Sami Zayn…LAST MAN STANDING…Owens hits pop-up powerbomb, follows with a Stunner, Sami rolls out, Kevin follows, powerbombs Sami through the announce desk, immediately picks him up & powerbombs Sami through another table, drags Sami to his feet by his beard & goes old school, powerbombs Sami on the edge of the ring apron…Sami cannot answer the 10 count (23:28).

*Edge backstage with Megan…Edge knows this “call out” by Jimmy is a trap but doesn’t care because he’s sick of Roman & this entire family…& he, himself, is an “angry, vindictive son of a bitch.”

*Baron Corbin backstage…Boogs teases him with “king” puns…Corbin can’t muster the energy to fight back.

*Sonya in the ring…announces 2^nd Women’s MitB participant: Zelina Vega!…Liv Morgan interrupts, she’s pissed that she’s somehow still not in the MitB match…Zelina has some harsh words for Liv…Liv slaps Zelina & tells Sonya “let me show you” that she deserves a spot.

(3)  MitB Qualifier (*?*): Liv Morgan defeats Zelina Vega…Zelina & Liv trade rolling pin attempts, Zelina gets caught grabbing the tights during one attempt…while Zelina argues with the ref for stopping the count, Liv rolls her up & grabs the tights out of the ref’s view for the win (>01:48 – match starts during commercial)…is Liv in the MitB match now?  We still don’t know.

(4)  Otis defeats Angelo Dawkins…2^nd buckle splash, Vader Bomb for the win (02:01).

*Jimmy Uso in the ring…calls out Edge…Edge makes his way out in front of the ‘tron…Edge, “your cousin set a perfect trap, but not for me…for you”…Edge to he ring, brawl ensues…Edge gets the upper hand…Edge breaks a support rod off a steel chair, locks Jimmy in a crossface with the metal rod in his mouth (like he did to Roman at Mania)…Edge screaming “look Roman!”…Edge releases Jimmy, crawls to glare into the ringside camera & shouts, “I DON’T STOP!” as the show ends.
