WWE SmackDown RECAP – July 30, 2021

*John Cena to the ring…says tonight Roman will sign his SummerSlam contract to face Finn Balor…no offense to Finn, Cena’s more upset Roman claims he rejected his challenge because he didn’t change the way he looks, his entrance, etc…Cena says that’s bull…Roman didn’t turn him down because of how he looks, but because of how Cena would make Roman look…Baron Corbin interrupts…he’s desperate, lost his car, his house, had his identity stolen, & after the tank-shot to the yambag, he’s unable to “perform” so he’s lost his wife…Cena gives him some cash, but Corbin wants more, wants Cena to put him in movies, calls Cena a Hollywood sell-out…Cena agrees to give him something he badly needs: an Attitude Adjustment.

*Rey & Dom in the lockerroom…Dom will keep an eye on Jey while pop faces Jimmy tonight…Rey says keep the other eye on him because we need to “step up our game” if we’re going to get the tag titles back (was this the 1^st seed for Rey vs. Dom?).

(1)  Rey Mysterio defeats Jimmy Uso…Jimmy has Rey in a fireman’s carry, Rey reverses into crucifix roll up & Dom gives Rey the 2-footed leverage assist for the win (07:57).

*Bianca Belair in the ring with Kayla…gives the “aw shucks” babyface routine…Carmellainterrupts, wants another shot…Zelina Vega interrupts, no one is more deserving than her (editorial: bitch, you ain’t won a match yet!)…Bianca accepts Zelina’s challenge…Carmella attacks Bianca from behind…2-on-1 on Bianca…Sasha Banks makes the save…Sasha & Bianca raise their hands together, victoriously…& dance for the people.

*Sonya announces tonight’s main event in Postman Pearce’s Office: Carmella & Zelina vs. Sasha & Bianca…(commercial)…

*Heyman approaches Pearce & Sonya backstage…Heyman asks Pearce what he intends to do about this, it’s Finn’s name on the contract but Cena’s signature…Pearce says he sees Roman’s signature & Cena’s signature & that’s good enough for him.

(3)  Big E/Cesaro/Nakamura defeat Apollo/Ziggler/Roode…Ziggler goes for a Swing…most of the competitors brawl outside the ring…Azeez takes out Boogs…back in the ring, Apollo misses a frogsplah on Nakamura, then fails at a roll up attempt as well…Kinshasa to Apollo for the win (06:45).

*Edge heads to the ring as we go to commercial…during the break Seth Rollins attacks Edge…Seth uses a tv camera to knock Edge out…Seth is now in the ring, he has the truck roll the footage of Edge “stealing” his title shot at Money in the Bank & Seth costing Edge that match…Seth says he’s not ashamed & claims he did the right thing…if he can’t be Universal Champ, neither can Edge…Seth rolls out (this promo may have been cut short by a very loud & clear “WE WANT BECKY” chant while Seth was speaking).

*As a result of the contract signing fiasco, next week Finn Balor faces Baron Corbin

(4)  Bianca/Sasha defeat Carmella/Zelina…Bianca re-enacts her feat of strength from WrestleMania by gorilla pressing Sasha at ringside, climbing 2 steps, & throwing her at their opponents for a double cross body takedown to the floor…back inside, Sasha hits Backstabber & rolls into the BanksStatemnet on Carmella for the submission win (08:42)…AFTER…Sasha & Bianca celebrate, embrace…and then…SURPRISE…Backstabber on Bianca…tornado DDT into BanksStatement…ref pulls Sasha off…Sasha raises the title above her head, then locks in BanksStatement again as the show ends.
