March 16th Episode of Raw: Results

Show Opens

The Commentary team stands stood in the ring to let us know that while the WWE PC has nothing but empty seats, the superstars are ready to perform for the television audience. Jerry Lawler demonstrated a lot of excitement for Austin 3:16 Day. As Tom Phillips began to tell us that Edge would be in attendance, the Rated R Superstar’s music hit and he came out to the ring.

Edge Interview

Edge came out, and asked the crew to roll footage from last week. They showed us the footage of Edge attacking MVP last week in Washington DC. Edge knew when he met Randy 20 years ago that their careers would intertwine. They had parallel paths. Edge learned grit from Mick Foley. The one difference between Edge and Randy Orton is that Randy Orton is an entitled brat. Edge says Randy can’t stand it that he made it in the business. He explains that Beth Phoenix came to Raw to announce Edge’s second retirement, but Randy wouldn’t let her finish. Edge says if Randy has the guts, it will be Edge vs. Orton in a Last Man Standing Match at WrestleMania.

Replaying the Men’s Royal Rumble

Spoiler Alert: Drew McIntyre wins that match.

Recap of AJ Styles and Undertaker Issues

AJ Styles did not Come to the Ring

He has the contract in the backstage area. AJ says it is 2020 and Undertake keeps interjecting himself into a place nobody wants him. Styles blames Michelle again and calls ‘Taker by his real name, Mark. AJ says he’ll pay for Undertaker’s assisted living costs. AJ asks Gallows and Anderson to take the contract to the Undertaker, but they say no. Styles eventually forces Gallows and Anderson to bring out the contract.

When Gallows and Anderson dropped the contract off, Taker had the lights turn off. When they came back on, Undertaker was standing behind Gallows and Anderson. Undertaker then beat up Gallows and Anderson by tossing them into the steps and barricade. Once he finished signing the contract, he stuffed it down Karl Anderson’s mouth.

Mysterio defeats Andrade

Asuka is the special guest commentator for this match, and she apparently likes Andrade. Andrade immediately took Mysterio to the mat, but Mysterio managed a head scissors takedown. When Mysterio went for a dive from the top rope, Andrade countered and hit him with a dropkick. That sent Monday Night Raw to commercial.

When we returned from commercial, Mysterio sent Andrade into the ring post. After a seated senton, Mysterio went for a moonsault, but Andrade caught him. Mysterio would get Andrade in position for a 619, but Andrade evaded and hit two vertical suplexes. Mysterio rolled out of the third suplex, hit the 619, and a frog splash for a pinfall victory.

Recap of the Build between Shayna Baszler and Becky Lynch

Becky Lynch In-Ring Interview

Lynch says this interview is for Shayna because as long as Becky has the belt, nothing in Shayna’s world makes sense. Becky goes on to say that she was the hunted that got sick of being hunted, and she wants Shayna to think about how it will feel when she beats her. The cameras panned to Shayna in the backstage area, and she didn’t seem happy.

Recap of Rhea Ripley and Charlotte Flair on Monday Night Raw and NXT Last Week

Backstage Interview with Kevin Owens

Owens accepts Seth Rollins challenge for a match. The match will take place at the Performance Center, which gives Kevin Owens a home field advantage. Kevin had his try out at the performance center. When he beats Rollins, he’ll add one more memory to the list of great performance center memories.

Announcements

  • Brock Lesnar and Drew McIntyre will be on Raw Next Week
  • Randy will be back next week

Stone Cold Steve Austin Time

Steve says he blew himself up on his entrance. From here on out, the 16th day of March is a national holiday. He asks the crowd to give him a hell yeah. Byron Saxton very enthusiastically says Hell Yeah. Byron then started rating all of Steve’s jokes. Steve asked Byron if he’d like to come down and celebrate 3:16 day with him.

Jerry Lawler says Byron forgot to pay his brain bill today. Steve called Byron a jackass and gave him a stunner. It is the best day of Tom Phillips’ life.

Becky Lynch came in with a cooler, stepped over Byron, and grabbed an IPA. Before the broadcast went off the air, Steve managed to give Byron another stunner.

Not Announced

  • Continuation of the Mysterio, Garza, Carillo, and Andrade situation. It seems that some combination of these wrestlers will continue in their on-going battle.
  • After several months of wrestling each other, it is inevitable that some combination of Seth Rollins, AOP, and Buddy Murphy will face some combination of Kevin Owens, the Street Profits, Aleister Black, and the Viking Raiders.
  • Becky Lynch and Shayna Baszler should continue the build toward their WrestleMania match.
  • After Edge did not lay down a satisfactory beating on Randy Orton last week, hopefully the battle continues as we build toward WrestleMania.
