Who did Shane Douglas defeat to become ECW Champion?
Ya know. . . when I look back at the history of the National Wrestling Alliance . . . I sometimes feel kinda bad for it.
They are this overarching governing body that really ruled the roost for decades before Vince McMahon and the WWF went national.
But as if that wasn’t enough, the NWA name and brand would get bullied about for years – and as we’ll discuss in this episode and others this month – they had a really rough go of things in late 1993 through 1994.
But Shane Douglas. . .
The Franchise.
A man who tossed the NWA World Heavyweight Championship on the ground and said it meant nothing.
All of that would come later. . . and it’s a juicy story that we’ll get into at some point.
But what about his first run as ECW Champion.
That one is also controversial.
