Rebooking The Last 20 WWE Champions

“Rebooking The Last 20 WWE Champions” comes from Contributor “Alcoholic” Adam Pokrajac. Pokrajac routinely provides the cold hard truth on Australian Wrestling with a heavy focus on New South Wales. He believes this is the most under appreciated wrestling scene in the world today and he reviews it with a beer in his hand.

Number 1 – Brock Lesnar defeats John Cena at Summerslam 2014

  • It was a very safe bet at the time with not many main event stars ready to step up. Not seeing the WWE Champion every show was a nice change.

Daniel Bryan wins the 2015 Royal Rumble

Number 2 – Seth Rollins defeats Brock Lesnar and Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 31 – (Brock 224 Days)

  • Seth Rollins Cashes in to end Brock’s 224 day reign as champion.
  • Bryan was the unanimous crowd favorite going into that year’s rumble, and he made the most sense to challenge for the WWE Championship (considering he had to vacate it).
  • Plus, the “Heist of the Century” call is one of the greatest moments in Wrestlemania history.

Roman Reigns wins the 2015 Money in the Bank (MITB)

Number 3 – Roman Reigns Cashes in on the November 10th 2015 Raw – (Rollins 220 days)

  • An injured Seth Rollins vacates the title.
  • Roman cashes in his briefcase on a vacant champion, so he becomes the WWE Champion and turns heel in the process.

Dean Ambrose wins the 2016 Royal Rumble

Number 4 – Dean Ambrose defeats Roman Reigns at WM32 – (Reigns 145 Days)

  • Ambrose feels betrayed by his shield brother taking the easy way out and for becoming the Authority’s new poster boy.
  • Overcoming the odds, Ambrose wins the WWE Championship.

Number 5 – AJ Styles defeats Dean Ambrose at Payback 2016 – (Ambrose 28 days)

  • In 2016, there is a strong case that AJ Styles was the best wrestler in the world. What do you do with the best wrestler in the world? You push him to the moon.
  • AJ wins due to inference from Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows.
  • The Brand spilt happens. When used properly, the split gives more time for underappreciated talent to shine.
  • Meanwhile, Anderson and Gallows win the tag team championships.

The Shield defeats The Club at Battleground 2016 – (AJ Styles 84 Days)

  • The winning team will get both the WWE championship and the Tag titles.
  • The Shield wins pushing the narrative that the Shield is the greatest faction of all time
  • AJ Styles and John Cena continue their feud on Smackdown. We keep the Styles/Cena feud. Instead of the WWE Championship, they compete for the Universal championship.

Number 6 – Seth Rollins defeats Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose at SummerSlam 2016

  • All 3 men want to lead WWE going forward, so they have a triple threat match to determine who holds the WWE Champion.
  • Rollins reclaims the title he never lost with as that story comes full circle.

Number 7 – Kevin Owens defeats Seth Rollins on the August 29, 2016 Raw – (Rollins 8 Days)

  • So, they are having an excellent match but the ref goes down.
  • Triple H does a run in like he does in real life and costs Rollins the title because he feels slighted by Rollins by embracing the fans and reforming the Shield.
  • Sami Zayn wins a no.1 contenders elimination chamber

Number 8 – Sami Zayn defeats Kevin Owens at WM 33 – Owens 216 Days

  • I just can’t ignore how much Sami was one of the purest babyfaces WWE has ever seen. He got humiliated and destroyed each week.
  • Zayn conquers his long time rival after years of Sami never being able to defeat Owens. He finally wins on the biggest stage.
  • Superstar Shakeup

Number 9 – Brock Lesnar defeats Sami Zayn at Summerslam – 2017 Zayn 140 Days

  • The visual of Brock beating Sami Zayn would be tear jerking.

Number 10 – Roman Reigns defeats Brock Lesnar and Samoa Joe at Royal Rumble 2018 – Brock 161 Days

  • This match comes about because Joe and Roman were the surviving members of  Team Raw at Survivor Series
  • Brock drops the title in a battle of hard hitting Samoans
  • Roman capitalizes by spearing Joe while Joe has Brock in the coquina clutch.

Bobby Lashley wins MITB 2018

Number 11 – Bobby Lashley defeats Roman Reigns at Hell in a Cell 2018 – Reigns 218 days

  • Lashley is legit a badass and is booked very seriously.
  • Lashley wins in dominating fashion.

Seth Rollins wins Royal Rumble 2019

Number 12 – Seth Rollins defeats Bobby Lashley at WM35 – Lashley 203 Days

  • Rollins was the workhorse of WWE with his Intercontinental championship reign. The natural progression would be to go up the card.

Superstar Shakeup

Andrade wins MITB 2019

Number 13 – Andrade defeats Seth Rollins and Ricochet at Stomping Grounds 2019 – Rollins 77 Days

  • So, Ricochet got his opportunity because he won the 2019 King of The Ring Tournament.
  • It looks like Ricochet is going to upset Rollins by hitting a 630 Splash. Both men are down, so Andrade runs down the ramp just like Rollins did at WM 31. He cashes in his contract and wins the WWE Championship.

Drew McIntyre wins the Royal Rumble

Number 14 – Drew McIntyre v Andrade WM36 Andrade 287 Days

  • Drew winning the rumble was a fantastic feel-good story. The NXT storyline comes full circle when Drew defeats Andrade. Andrade of course beat Drew McIntyre for the NXT Championship

Superstar Shakeup

Number 15 – Bobby Lashley defeats Drew McIntyre at WM 37 – Drew 357 Days

  • Since they can’t properly fit an Elimination Chamber inside the performance centre, they have a scramble match where the winner gets a shot at the WWE Championship
  • Lashley wins clean and just adds more legitimacy to the Hurt Business

Number 16 – Tommaso Ciampa defeats Bobby Lashley at TLC 2021 – Lashley 266 Days

  • Lashley gets overconfident, so he announces at TLC he will have an open challenge TLC match.
  • Lashley can’t keep up with the physical punishment by Ciampa.

Number 17 – Adam Cole defeats Tomasso Ciampa at Takeover in January 2022 – Ciampa 41 Days

  • Ciampa takes the title back to NXT saying he wants nothing to do with the main roster, so he brings the title to NXT and defends it on a Takeover
  • Adam Cole wins 1-2-3

Seth Rollins wins the Royal Rumble

Number 18 – Seth Rollins defeats Adam Cole in a 1 hour Ironman match at WM38 – Cole 64 Days

  • Seth Rollins says I’m Mr. NXT. I am the living embodiment of NXT. I am the first NXT champion, and I will not let you disrespect the title we all dream of winning as a kid.
  • So, the match goes on and Rollins wins 2 falls to 1.

Number 19 – Keith Lee defeats Seth Rollins Rollins at Summerslam – Rollins 147 Days

  • Lee wants to prove he hasn’t been a flop on the main roster. After a massive winning streak, he gets in title contention and knocks off Rollins.

Number 20 – Keith Lee defeats Roman Reigns in a Unification match at WM 39

  • Keith Lee is sick of the Tribal Chief, so he challenges Roman to a title unification match
  • Keith Lee wins and ends Roman’s lengthy title reign
