3 Things You Need to Know About NJPW CUP USA

With all the questions I am getting about the New Japan Cup USA, I decided to put out 3 Things You Need to Know About NJPW CUP USA Tournament before it starts. In case you completely missed the announcement, I put some additional background information at the end of the article (including the press conference announcement of the tournament).

As always, if you enjoy anything about this article, consider subscribing to my weekly pro wrestling letter. You can read last week’s letter and subscribe by Clicking Here.

Number 1: Win-Loss Records

Jeff Cobb and Brody King both have some matches outside of New Japan Pro Wrestling. When you strictly look at New Japan wins and losses in 2020, we really don’t have that much statistical information.

Number 2: The Winner May Not Face Jon Moxley

The IWGP United States Championship has been a tough title for Jon Moxley to hold onto. He failed to make a scheduled title defense last fall (due to injury) and New Japan stripped him of the title. With New Japan only giving champions 180 days to defend, Moxley runs the risk of getting stripped again. He needs to defend by November 25th to avoid that outcome.

Number 3: When and How to Watch

This is the most common question that I get about New Japan. As of right now, I am unaware of any potential television deal.

Here’s the Bracket for the New Japan Cup USA Tournament
