British Bulldog Will Join the WWE Hall of Fame

WWE announced via Corey Graves’ After the Bell Podcast that the British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith will join the WWE Hall of Fame 2020 class. Graves interviewed Tyson Kid, Natalya, and Harry Smith (Davey’s son) on the podcast. They shared personal anecdotes about the British Bulldog.

The early part of Davey Boy’s WWE career came as part of the British Bulldogs tag team with Dynamite Kid. The team captured the WWE (then WWF) Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania 2 defeating Brutus Beefcake and Greg “the Hammer” Valentine. After a successful run as a tag team, Davey Boy had a long singles career capturing the WWE Intercontinental Championship in the Main Event of SummerSlam 1992. While the SummerSlam victory against Bret “Hitman” Hart certainly represents a career highlight for the British Bulldog, his career continued to prosper in the later years. The British Bulldog would hold the WWE Tag Team championships again with his brother-in-law Owen Hart. While already holding those Tag Team Titles with Owen, Bulldog also became WWE’s first European Champion by defeating Owen in the tournament finals.

Davey Boy Smith joins the previously announced Class of 2020 including JBL, Batista, Nikki and Brie Bella, and the NWO (Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Sean Waltman, and Hulk Hogan).
