January 7, 2022 – Smackdown

*Live from Uncasville, CT.

*Roman Reigns to the ring…says the two people he never wants to see again are Brock & Heyman…so, naturally…Brock Lesnar & Paul Heyman make their way to the ring…Brock “introduces” himself to Roman & tells Roman to acknowledge him…Brock then challenges Roman to give the people what they want: champ vs. champ, title vs. title…as Roman & Brock argue over Heyman, Roman lands a Superman Punch on Brock & rolls out with a big smile.

*Sami Zayn backstage with Sarah, talking about Rick Boogs when he sees Johnny Knoxville & approaches him…says Johnny should do something to impress him if he wants to qualify for the Royal Rumble.

(1)  Rick Boogs defeats Sami Zayn…Boogs rolls Sami up for the win (06:31)…AFTER…Johnny Knoxville sneaks into the ring & flips Sami over the top rope, which somehow now qualifies him for the Rumble.

*New Day backstage with Kayla…they’re not afraid of facing the Usos in a Street Fight tonight.

*Charlotte to the ring…she announces several Royal Rumble participants: Rhea Ripley, Nikki A.S.H., Nikki & Brie Bella, Shotzi, Natalya, Michelle McCool, Dana Brooke, Carmella, Queen Zelina, iMPACT! Knockouts Champion Mickie James, Tamina, Kelly Kelly, Aliyah, Summer Rae, Naomi, Shayna Baszler, & herself…Charlotte plans to win the Rumble & choose her own WrestleMania opponent…Naomi interrupts & tells Charlotte she can skip the Rumble & face her now…Charlotte says Naomi hasn’t done anything to deserve a match with her, so Naomi slaps the taste out of her mouth…

(2)  Charlotte defeats Naomi…Naomi hits a blockbuster from the barricade to the floor & rolls back in…as the ref’s count reaches 8 with Charlotte motionless, Sonya comes out to add the stipulation that this match can’t be won by countout…later as Charlotte has Naomi in the Figutre-4 & is refusing to release due to a ropebreak, Sonya adds that you can’t win by DQ either…just pinfall or submission…Charlotte hits Natural Selection for the win (>12:58…match began during commercial).

*The Usos backstage with Kayla…the rivalry ends tonight & the new Day will learn why the Usos are “the ones.”

*Pearce & Sonya backstage…Pearce has to name Roman’s opponent for the Royal Rumble before the end of the night.

*Happy Corbin to the ring for Happy Talk…he introduces Drew McIntyre, but Madcap Moss emerges with a neck brace, cane, & tiny flaccid sword…the two idiots have some laughs until the Viking Raiders charge the ring & send them scrambling to the floor.

(3)  Happy Corbin & Madcap Moss defeat Viking Raiders…Moss hits The Punchline (modified neckbreaker) on Erik for the win (>03:25…match began during commercial).

*Sheamus declares himself for the Royal Rumble.

*Pearce visits Roman’s locker room to tell him he’s chosen his Royal Rumble opponent…Roman doesn’t seem to care because “there’s no on on this roster I haven’t smashed already.”

(4)  The Usos defeat The New Day…in a STREET FIGHT to retain their SmackDown Tag Team Championship…the Usos put Kofi through a table with 3-D & Jimmy covers for the win (18:04).

*Seth Rollins visits Roman’s locker room & begins laughing maniacally as the show ends.
