WWE NXT RECAP – July 27, 2021

(1)  Dunne/Lorcan defeat Ciampa/Thatcher…surprise return by Ridge Holland who takes out Thatcher at ringside…Dunne hits Bitter End on Ciampa for the win (12:56)…AFTER…Dunne & Lorcan make Ciampa watch as Holland ragdolls Thatcher…Holland finishes with a headbutt for Ciampa.

*Carmelo Hayes hype package.

*Hit Row backstage promo…spittin’ rhymes on Legado del Fantasma & Imperium.

*Josh Briggs hype package.

*Knight & Grimes hit the links…Grimes has to wash Knight’s balls…bets Knight $5,000 he will hit into the trees…Knight does hit into the trees.

(2)  Breakout: Carmelo Hayes defeats Josh Briggs…Duke Hudson joins commentary (he faces the winner)…Top Buckle leg drop bulldog (Sicilian Slice) for the win (10:54)…AFTER…Hudson says his Semi-Final match vs. Hayes is “going to be a breeze.”

*Grimes annoying Knight with play-by-play…Knight hits his “double or nothing” ball into the water, now owes Grimes $10,000…Knight makes him retrieve his ball from water hazard…Ted DiBiase drives by, tells Grimes he was born to be a champion & should fight for what he believes in.

*Ridge Holland/Dunne/Lorcan leaving the building…cameraman asks Holland why he attacked Thatcher…Holland, ”None of your business…not the first person I’ve smashed up…won’t be the last.”

*Raquel Gonzalez to the ring…says she’s dominated everyone, who’s next, keep ‘em coming…Dakota says Raquel is more dominant than Charlotte, Asuka, Shayna…who is woman enough to come face her?  Dakota, “as long as I have your back you will always be champion!”…Raquel strikes a pose on the second buckle, as she dismounts she’s hit by a Kaio Kick in the face from Dakota…Dakota grabs the title, holds it over the fallen champion & informs her, “I AM WOMAN ENOUGH.”

*Adam Cole promo…informs Bronson Reed he is no one’s “rebound”…doesn’t give a damn about Reed’s 14 year journey…tonight is another sad chapter courtesy of Adam Cole Bay Bay.

*Zoey finds Io training alone, says they should train together, form a relationship…Io not initially interested, begrudgingly agrees to give it a try.

*Mandy Rose backstage talking to Gigi Dolan, Jacy Jayne…Mandy tells the cameraman to “get out of here”

(3)  Kacy/Kayden defeat Franky Monet/Jessi Kamea…Robert Stone throws his man-purse in for Franky to use, but right in front of the ref…distraction allows Kayden to set up the neckbreaker/450 splash combo on Franky, Kacy covers for the win (03:31)…AFTER…Franky is furious with Stone.

*Wade Barrett sits down with Roderick Strong & Malcolm Bivens…the Cruiserweight title is the eventual goal, but the big money match right now is Strong vs. Bobby Fish next week.

*Dakota seen quickly leaving the building, ignores request to explain her actions.

(4)  Imperium defeat Top Dolla/Ashante…Wilde/Mendoza attack Swerve ringside…Top Dolla takes them out but leaves Ashante alone…Imperium hit European Bomb on Anshante, Barthel covers for the win (12:58)…AFTER…Legados triple team Top Dolla…Swerve runs them off with a steel chair.

*The Way in their locker room, arguing over whose fault it is that Theory has “run away from home”…Indi get a present delivered, it is a Lumis sketch of The Way with Dexter in Theory’s place…Johnny says “it’s never going to happen”…Indi proposes a match between Johnny & Dexter…if Johnny wins, no more talk of Dexter…if Lumis wins the Garganos have to “give Dexter a chance.”

*Grimes/Knight are holding up GYV on the course…Gibson proposes a wager, next one to sink a ball gets $20,000…Grimes accepts…Knight promptly hits into the water again…Grimes produces a golden golf ball from his pocket & tees up while Knight argues with GYV…Grimes crotches Knight on his backswing, hits him in the head on his follow through, still manages a hole-in-one.

(5)  Adam Cole defeats Bronson Reed…Reed misses Tsunami…Cole hits Superkick to kneeling Reed…Last Shot for the win (11:16)…AFTER…Kyle O’Reilly attacks Cole on the ramp with a chair…Suplexes Cole onto the bottom half of the ring steps as the show ends.
