Match Announcements

  • Special Match announced as Hirooki Goto, Yoshi-Hashi, Sho, and Yoh vs. Evil, Sanada, Shingo Takagi, and Bushi

Taiji Ishimori defeats Gabriel Kidd – 08:53

  • Rating 7 out of 10
  • Gabriel Kidd submitted to a crossface

Yoshinobu Kanemaru defeats Yuya Uemura – 09:31

  • Rating 7 of 10
  • Yuya Uemura attacked Kanemaru before the bell, which really turns the tables on the Suzuki Gun playbook.
  • Kanemaru attempted to use his liquor bottle, but the referee caught him leading to Uemura rolling him up for several near falls.
  • Ultimately Kanemaru won with a leaping DDT.

Goto, Yoshi-Hashi, Sho, Yoh defeats Evil, Sanada, Takagi, Bushi – 12:14

  • Rating 6 of 10
  • This match previews two future New Japan Cup Opening Round Matches: Sho vs. Shingo Takagi and Yoh vs. Bushi.
  • The match ended with Hirooki Goto getting the pinfall over Bushi following the GTR.

Yuji Nagata defeats Minoru Suzuki – 20:37

  • Rating 8 of 10
  • This started as a striking match through the first five minutes.
  • Despite nearly passing out in the rear naked choke, Nagata managed to block several of Suzuki’s attempts to hit the Gotch Piledriver.
  • Nagata caught Suzuki running the ropes, and he hit a quick side suplex with a bridge for the pinfall victory

Kazuchika Okada defeats Gedo – 15:31

  • Rating 8 of 10
  • Gedo comes to the ring wearing a sling, and he grabs the mic. I’m not sure what he said, but Okada came out next.
  • Red Shoes and Okada insist that Gedo take his arm out of the sling. When he does, a spray can of some kind is revealed.
  • Gedo next lays down on the mat and the bell rings. Okada goes through Gedo’s pockets and pulls out a set of brass knuckles.
  • As Red Shoes gets rid of the brass knuckles, Gedo pulls out a wrench and begins hitting Okada with that.
  • About 12 minutes into the match, Gedo gets another set of brass knuckles that he had taped to the ring post. They were hidden by the ring apron. Although he hit Okada with the weapon, it wasn’t enough to beat him.
  • Okada eventually locked Gedo into a modified sleeper hold for the submission victory
