Must See from 2/3 – 2/9

Promotions regularly reviewed include AEW, Impact, MLW NJPW, NWA, NXT, ROH, and WWE. The matches below are listed chronologically.

Must Watch Matches

New Japan ran shows almost every day this week, and the final show on 2/9 had a strong card from top to bottom. Suzuki/Moxley and Takahashi/Lee were both very good. I watched the ROH Free Enterprise Show live and haven’t re-watched the broadcast on Honor Club. I’ll evaluate that as part of next week’s post.

  1. Kenny Omega and Riho vs. Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford – AEW Dark 2/4
    • You need to watch this match because it is not a Mixed Tag Match where the girls must face the girls and the guys must face the guys. Keep an open mind and watch.
  2. Sho, Yoh, Will Osprey, and Okada VS. Yoshinobu Kanemaru, El Desperado, Taichi, and Zack Sabre Jr. – Road to New Beginning 2/4
    • New Japan has a ton of multi-person tag matches that are missable. On this tour, they made the main event of each show an elimination match where participants could be eliminated by pinfall, submission, or going over the top rope. The wrestling was average, but it did a great job continuing the Will Osprey and ZSJ feud.
  3. Hiromu Takahashi vs. Ryu Lee for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship – New Beginning 2/9
    • A Junior Heavyweight Title match that included a six minute striking battle and a suicide dive over the outside barricade. Possibly the best match of the month.
  4. Jon Moxley vs. Minoru Suzuki for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship – New Beginning 2/9
    • Very physical match from two men that beat each other up with tables, chairs, strikes, and signature moves. An angle for the next U.S. Title match came at the end.

Other Items of Interest

  1. Jon Moxley and Santana angle from AEW Dyanmite this week. Santana cut a very good promo on to set up their match.
  2. MJF’s 10 Lashes on Cody Rhodes in the final segment of AEW Dynamite.
  3. The Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley segments from Raw and NXT this week.
  4. The Matt Riddle, Pete Dunne, and Undisputed Era interview segment from NXT. Matt Riddle is ridiculously funny.
