May 1st Episode of Smackdown Results

Smackdown results will begin at 8PM tonight.

Daniel Bryan In-Ring Promo

Bryan is excited to compete in the most unique Money in the Bank in history. It’s the first time he has ever wrestled in an office building. He’s excited about the opportunity. He won the Money in the Bank match 9 years ago, cashed it in on the Big Show, and became world champion. It spawned the Yes Movement. It taught him that if you fight for your dreams, your dreams will fight for you. He’s mad that Corbin took Drew’s opportunity away.

Corbin says Daniel Bryan should be careful what he wishes for. They recap Corbin’s win from last week and the subsequent beat down of Drew Gulak.

Daniel Bryan reminds us that Corbin is 1 of 4 people (out of a total of 23) to blow his Money in the Bank opportunity. Bryan says that makes him a loser.

Daniel Bryan defeats King Corbin

Corbin had the early advantage, but Daniel Bryan began to target Corbin’s leg. Bryan used a dragon screw leg whip and a knee brat slow Corbin’s advance. Daniel landed several strikes in the corner, but the referee separated the competitors and Corbin took advantage of the opening. Action spilled to the outside where Corbin shoved Bryan into the post as Smackdown went to commercial.

Back from the break, Corbin maintained control with several strikes in the center of the ring. Bryan surprised Corbin with a crucifix, but Corbin came right back. Bryan picked the leg of Daniel Bryan and cinched in an ankle lock that he transitioned into a stomp on Corbin’s heel. After connecting with a running dropkick in the corner, Bryan attempted to hit the same move again, but Corbin countered and hit Deep Six for a near fall.

When action again spilled to the outside, Corbin tossed a ladder in Bryan’s face causing the DQ.

Post Match

Corbin wanted to beat up Bryan after the match, but Daniel Bryan got the better of the situation. Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro came to the ring and attacked Daniel from behind. The segment ended with Corbin tossing Bryan off the stage into a group of ladders.

Braun Strowman Shown Chatting with Alexa Bliss

Braun Strowman In-Ring Promo

Strowman says that the past is the past, and then he gets interrupted by Bray Wyatt from the Firefly Fun House. Bray is treating us to story time. He is going to read us the story called “The Black Sheep.” The Black Sheep was stronger than every other animal on the farm. The good shepherd noticed him and took care of him. Eventually the Black Sheep and all of the animals left the shepherd. He was all alone. Bray says he wants to change the ending by finding the Black Sheep and bringing him straight to the slaughterhouse.

Braun says he’s done with the puppets. Come to the ring if you have something to say. Bray waves goodbye.

Sheamus defeats Leon Ruff

Ruff hit one dropkick and Sheamus swatted the second one away. Sheamus hit a trip of Irish curse backbreakers before tossing Ruff to the outside. He then lifted Ruff back up on the apron and then struck him with clubbing blows on the chest. One brogue kick later and the match was over.

Back from the break, the Forgotten Sons regained control and focused their offense on Big E. The match swung back in favor of the New Day when Big E slipped out of the corner and hit Steve Cutler with a Ura Nage. After Kofi got the tag, he hit the boom drop. The match flipped back and forth, but the Forgotten Sons hit a tandem elbow drop and backstabber.

Otis defeats Dolph Ziggler to Qualify for the Money in the Bank

The match began with Otis hitting a shoulder tackle and a delayed vertical suplex for a near fall. The match remained one sided until Otis went shoulder first into the post. Ziggler shoved Otis into the barricade as Smackdown went to commercial.

Back from the commercial, Dolph still had control of the match. Otis managed to shake Ziggler off and escaped the sleeper hold. Otis slammed Ziggler into the corner, but he evaded the caterpillar. Dolph raked Otis’ eyes and hit the Zig Zag, but Otis kicked out.
