Show Opens with a Video Package for Cruiserweight Tournament

Isaiah Scott defeats Fantasma

Fantasma went for a few quick pinfall attempts, but Swerve kicked him to the outside. Scott used a hurricanrana off the second rope to bring Fantasma into the ring. After the show went to commercial and came back, Fantasma hit a top rope hurricanrana and then a frog splash for a near fall.

Scott hit a dead lift German suplex, but Fantasma slipped out of the ring. Fantasma evaded the Fosbury flop and connected with a suicide dive.

Isaiah Swerve used a crucifix pin for the victory.

Johnny and his wife don’t respect anyone. Apparently they’re fighting next week.

During the Commercial

Fantasma again attacked by the group of people that abducted Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde

Candice LeRae defeats Kacy Catanzaro

Candice has new bad guy music. Johnny Gargano talks her out to the ring.

Candice caught Catanzaro with a snapmare, but Kacy used her speed to make a comeback. It didn’t last long though as Candice took right back over. Candice went to casually put Kacy in the Gargano Escape, but Kacy countered out of it. That ticked Candice off, and she just beat on Kacy. After the wicked step sister kick to the face, Candice got the pinfall victory

After the match, Candice ran back to the ring and put Kacy in the Gargano Escape.

Damian Priest Pre-Tape Interview

He gets to finish what he started months ago.

Matt Riddle and Timothy Thatcher

Riddle says he knows Timothy Thatcher like the back of his hand. . .if he only knew the back of his hand for two weeks. Riddle announces that their going to prove how a great a team they are on the Newly Bros Show.

Byron Saxton is the host. The first question is what did Matt have for breakfast. Thatcher says he has no idea, which is what Matt wrote down. Byron asked Thatcher’s about his favorite television show. He doesn’t own a television but he would buy one if the price is right. Riddle wrote down the Price is Right. Thatcher said the craziest place he’s ever done it is a triple threat in a laundromat. Matt wrote down 3 sum on a washer.

Imperium attacked Riddle and Thatcher. They tossed Riddle over the barricade and hit their doomsday uppercut on Thatcher.

Adam Cole vs. Velveteen Dream for the NXT Championship – Next Week

Charlotte Flair defeats Mia Yim

Yim evaded a big boot from Charlotte and then hit several jabs and strikes on Charlotte Flair. Mia followed it all up with a tornado DDT, but Charlotte caught her with a back elbow and several clubbing blows. When Charlotte sent Mia into the ropes, Yim hung herself up like Andrade. NXT went to commercial.

Back from the break, Charlotte stomped on Mia Yim as she came back in the ring. Yim hit soul food, but Charlotte came right back so Yim hit Code Blue for a two count.

Flair cinched in a high angle Boston Crab, but Yim got out and Charlotte kicked her in the face. Yim countered out of the figure four with a cradle. Charlotte came right back countering Eat da Feet with the figure eight and earned the submission.

Post Match

Io Shirai came out to the ringside area screaming at Charlotte. She said Next Week you are mine. Apparently that match is next week.

No update, but Candice came by to say things are different around here. Get used to it.

Dexter Lumis defeats Shane Thorne

Thorne got a bunch of strikes in on Lumis, but it had little impact. Shane Thorne drop kicked Lumis into the corner and hit a cannonball. When Thorne came back in for another move, Lumis sidestepped and hit Thorne with a spinebuster. Lumis finished things off with a sidewalk slam, and he immediately put Thorne in a triangle choke. Shane Thorne attempted to stay in the match for the next several moments, but he eventually faded. The referee stopped the match and awarded the victory to Dexter Lumis.

Keith Lee Backstage Interview

His throat isn’t 100%. Priest wants to live forever and so will the beating from Keith Lee.

Drake Maverick defeats Tony Nese

Tony Nese just went to town beating Maverick down in the corner. The mauling continued with a scoop slam in the center of the ring. Nese began to focus his offense on the throat of Maverick. He chopped Maverick in the throat and the hung him over the top rope as NXT went to commercial.

Back from the break, Nese held Maverick down with a headlock. Tony Nese began to just play with Drake. He slapped him in the face and Maverick began to hulk up. Maverick turner things around and started to beat Nese down in the corner. After a missile dropkick, Maverick missed sliced bread. Nese hit a German Suplex into the bottom turnbuckle. Tony Nese went for the running Nese, but Maverick moved out of the way and hit a tornado cutter. After Maverick missed an elbow smash, Nese went to the top rope. Maverick met Nese on the top rope and connected with a bulldog from the top.

Drake says he isn’t leaving until he is the Cruiserweight Champion.

Keith Lee defeats Damian Priest

Keith Lee hit Priest with a cross body in the initial moments of the match, and he clotheslined Priest to the outside. The action spilled over the barricade where Lee tossed Priest over the barricade back into the ringside area with Priest crashing into the ring apron. Keith Lee missed a shoulder tackle and crashed into the barricade as NXT went to commercial.

Back from the break, Priest had control. Both men attempted suplexes, but neither succeeded. Lee hit a one handed slam and then an enormous tornillo to the outside. Back in the ring, Lee hit the ropes and knocked Priest to the mat with a lariat for a near fall.

Damian Priest hit the broken arrow, and Lee rolled to the outside. Priest leaped over the top rope and connected with a dive on Lee. Back in the ring, Priest hit a spinning heel kick from the top rope.

Lee caught Priest on the apron and hit a deadlift superplex. Priest came back with a chokeslam that only counted for two. Keith Lee blocked Priest’s nightstick, and hit two spirit bombs for the pinfall victory.


April 29th Episode of NXT Preview

Keith Lee (6-0) vs. Damian Priest (0-3) – North American Championship Match

Keith Lee is undefeated in 2020 with wins over Dominik Dijakovic and Damian Priest in a triple threat, Cameron Grimes, Kona Reeves, Dominik Dijakovic, Roderick Strong, and a fatal four way with Grimes, Priest, and Dijakovic.

Damian Priest has yet to win a match in 2020 with losses to Domink Dijakovic and Keith Lee in a Triple Threat and a fatal four way.

Charlotte Flair (6-0) vs. Mia Yim (3-3)

Charlotte Flair is undefeated in 2020 with wins over Rhea Ripley, Asuka, Sarah Logan, Kayden Carter, Bianca Belair, and her major victory in the Royal Rumble.

Mia Yim is just batting .500 with wins over Jessi Kammeea, Dakota Kai, and Kayden Carter. She has just as many losses to Xia Li, Io Shirai, and Kay Lee Ray.

Cruiserweight Championship Tournament Continues

The Round Robin Cruiserweight Championship Tournament Begins this week. I devoted an entire post to the Cruiserweight Championship Tournament. The below graphic summarizes the individual records in the tournament and their overall singles records.

Tony Nese vs. Drake Maverick

This match should happen based on the backstage Tony Nese’s backstage interview last week.

Tony Nese has an 0-1 record in the tournament losing to Kushida last week. Outside the tournament, Tony Nese (3-6) has a string losses to Cameron Grimes, Lio Rush, Jordan Devlin, Tyler Breeze, and Angel Garza.  He does have three victories over Danny Burch, Oney Lorcan, and Lio Rush.

Drake Maverick also has an 0-1 record in the tournament losing to Jake Atlas last week. That is his only match of the year so far.
