Did you catch that subject line?

“It’s a New Day! Yes it is.”

It doesn’t come across in print near as well as it does when Big E shouts the phrase into a jam packed arena.

In any case, this is the 59th issue of the Body Slam Brigade, and it starts a new era for our newsletter. We have a new format!

Let me know what you think and keep sending me your topic ideas to [email protected].

1. Who will Stop Roman Reigns?

Since Roman Reigns returned to WWE at SummerSlam last year, he’s been incredibly dominant. Roman has been a top guy in WWE for years, but it really seems that he’s leveled up from top guy to unstoppable guy.

With that in mind, I keep wondering about who might have a shot at eventually defeating Roman for the Universal Championship.

There are rumors going around about the return of The Rock, Brock Lesnar, and John Cena. I’ve asked a bunch of fans that have come up with names ranging from Doink (yes, I did have one fan say that) to Seth Rollins and the Uso’s, but Brock Lesnar got the most votes at press time.

Karrion Kross and Keith Lee seem to be strong fan favorites too.

John D’Aconti and I tackled this subject on the Daily Wrestling News Show earlier this week. Listen to the entire podcast episode here.

If you think you have the answer to who eventually takes down Roman Reigns, share your thoughts on this Facebook Post in the Body Slam Brigade Private Facebook Group.

2. Five Opponents for Braun Strowman Outside of WWE

Mark Henry told TMZ Sports that he has spoken to AEW and Braun Strowman. Henry says there is interest from both sides, so maybe they’ll be able to do something when Braun becomes available.

I’m just speculating now, but I also wonder if that press will make for a good bargaining chip if Braun goes back to negotiate with WWE.

In either case, here’s a list of five wrestlers outside of WWE that I think would be great opponents for Braun Strowman.

Number 1 – Bad Luck Fale (New Japan Pro Wrestling)
Number 2 – Brody King (ROH)
Number 3 – Moose (Impact)
Number 4 – Nick Aldis (NWA)
Number 5 – Wardlow (AEW)

Do you have a wrestler that you would like to see Braun work with in the future. Share it to this tweet thread.

3. Tiffany Nieves Got Physical at Bash at the Brew 5
Our favorite Ring Announcer Tiffany Nieves got physical during an altercation with Leila Gray at CCW’s Bash at the Brew 5. I interviewed Tiffany a few months ago on the Daily Wrestling News Show, but we had a ton of technical difficulties. Here’s a link to Tiffany’s tweet, so you can see the incident. Here’s a clip from my interview with Tiffany where she explains how she got into wrestling.

Stay tuned because I’ll do another interview with Tiffany in the future.

4. Piper Niven Debuts on Monday Night Raw
As far as I can tell Piper Niven is the first main roster call up to come directly from the NXT UK brand. The debut came on Monday Night Raw when Niven debuted as Eva Marie’s protege. Despite being a main player in the UK brand for several years, the Raw commentary team made it seem like they had never seen Piper before.Piper is actually a well credentialed wrestler holding titles in ICW and World of Sports, and she was the first Scottish born female to wrestle in Korakuen Hall.

BBC Scotland featured Niven in the documentary Our Lives – Fight Like a Girl. Niven started pro wrestling training at the age of 16 and had her debut at the age of 18.

Piper has a great story, and I hope WWE immediately starts telling that story.

Honor Pals and and an updated lineup for Best in the World is in the ROH news.

This edition of the Body Slam Brigade is a major departure from all the back issues. I’m excited about this format. Number 5 will almost always include links so you can get all of the information you used to get in the detailed sections of the newsletter (results, upcoming matches, and a long list of news items).

Have A Great Weekend!

Ryan
