March 31st AEW Dark Results
Tony Shiavone and Cody on Commentary
Announced One Half of Bracket for new TNT Championships
- Shawn Spears vs. Cody
- Sammy Guevara vs. Darby Allin
Sammy Guevara defeats Matt Sells
Sammy Guevara used a leap frog and a back flip followed by a rotating dropkick. After a scoop slam, Sammy climbed to the top rope and he jumped of and smacked Matt across the face. Matt made a bit of a comeback hitting a shining wizard. Matt did not sustain the advantage. Guevara hit a cutter, but did not take the cover. Showcasing some strength, Sammy used a delayed vertical suplex.
The showboating of Sammy Guevara allowed Matt to make another comeback, but Sammy got a running high knee into a second high knee transitioned from an inverted fireman’s carry.
Post Match Promo
Another “W” for the best ever. He’s unstoppable. If anybody wants to test Sammy Guevara, try it.
Shawn Spears defeats Shawn Dean
Spears grabbed the arm and pulled Dean down with a snapmare. When Spears stopped paying attention, Dean managed to hit a couple of forearms and a spin kick. Spears then hit a sharp clothesline followed by several chops and a side suplex. The Chairman used a running Death Valley driver to win the match.
Darby Allin defeats Preston Vance
Preston Vance grabbed Darby Allin off the second rope and German Suplexed him before the bell. Vance tossed Darby to the outside and through him into the barricade and the ring apron. Darby evaded a suplex by floating over and tossed Vance into the ring post. He also through Vance’s wrist into the ring post. Darby immediately climbed to the top rope, but Preston caught him and slammed to the mat. Vance maintained the advantage with a high kick, several chops, and a couple of stiff elbows.
Darby Allin hit one of his serious suicide dives and a lion-sault followed by a code red. Vance managed to counter into a cutter and then hit another pop-up cutter. After the stunner and coffin drop, Darby picked up the victory.
Jon Moxley defeats Faboo Andre
Moxley left his position running the camera to come to the ring. Jon punched him a few times, but Faboo countered out of a suplex. Moxley hit him with a lariat, gotch-style piledriver, and a STF for the submission victory.
Post Match
Jake Hager came out and attacked Jon Moxley. Moxley was trapped in the triangle choke.
March 31st AEW Dark Preview
Tonight’s episode of AEW Dark has six matches featuring a number of independent wrestlers not usually featured on AEW Television. Tony Khan put out the below tweet explaining why.
Sammy Guevara vs. Matt Sells
Sammy Guevara has an overall record of 3-6 in 2020, and a singles record of 2-3 with victories over Dustin Rhodes and Christopher Daniels and losses to Dustin Rhodes, Jon Moxley, Darby Allin, and Kenny Omega.
Matt Sells has had one televised match from last week’s Dark. He lost a tag team battle against Dustin Rhodes and QT Marshall.
Darby Allin vs. Preston Vance
Preston Vance makes his AEW and television debut against Darby Allin (3-2 Singles, 3-4 overall). Allin’s singles wins came against Brandon Cutler, Sammy Guevara, and Kip Sabian, and his two losses in 2020 came at the hands of Cody and Pac.
Jon Moxley vs. Faboo Andre
Jon Moxley has blazed a 10 match unbeaten streak in 2020 capturing the AEW Championship at AEW Revolution by beating Chris Jericho. The rest of his singles victories include Lance Archer, Juice Robinson, Trent, Sammy Guevara, Pac, Ortiz, Minoru Suzuki, Santana, and Jeff Cobb.
Fabbo Andre makes his debut and has no chance.
Shawn Spears vs. Shawn Dean
Spears has not had a singles match all year, and he has lost to pretty much everyone in tag team competition.
