When Tozawa climbed to the top rope, Fantasma stopped him. Fantasma stood on the second rope with Tozawa in a fireman’s carry, and he dropped Tozawa down over the top turnbuckle.
Akira Tozawa evaded a clothesline and hit a bulldog and then his top rope senton, but Fantasma rolled to the outside. By the time Tozawa got Fantasma back in the ring, he could only get a two count.

When NXT returned from commercial, Strong held Lumis in a few submissions. Lumis just stared at him. It was unnerving. After the Olympic Slam, Strong got a near fall. Lumis evaded a second Olympic Slam and surprised Strong with a Lou Thesz press.
After Roderick Strong hit Lumis with a million strikes, Lumis hit a spine buster to put Roddy down. Strong surprised Lumis with a roll up for the victory.

Back from commercial, Io Shirai had Rhea Ripley in a crossface. Ripley got out. With Ripley and Shirai on the top rope, Ripley connected with several head butts and then a super-plex for a near fall.
Shirai managed to get Ripley back in the crossface and Ripley needed to struggle to the ropes this time. After a Tiger Feint Kick, Ripley launched into the ring with a springboard dropkick. Shirai followed up with a suicide dive.

May 20th Episode of NXT Preview
Tonight’s episode of NXT includes five advertised matches. Depending on how Kushida vs. Drake Maverick finishes, we could understand who will ultimately end up in the Cruiserweight Tournament Finals.
Rhea Ripley (3-1) vs. Io Shirai (3-0)
The winner of this match will likely get another shot at Charlotte Flair, but in my opinion . . . Io Shirai never got a fair match. Charlotte got herself intentionally disqualified. Here’s the breakdown:
Rhea Ripley has one loss in 2020 to Charlotte Flair. She has otherwise defeated Bianca Belair, Toni Storm, and Sarah Logan.
Io Shirai holds a victory over the NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair. She also defeated Aliyah and won the Number 1 Contender Ladder Match.
Dexter Lumis (3-0) vs. Roderick Strong (2-3)
Dexter Lumis hasn’t lost a match yet defeating Shane Thorne, Jake Atlas, and Tehuti Miles. This will be his first real test.
Roderick Strong has had an up and down year. He has victories over Bronson Reed and Velveteen Dream, but a series of losses to Keith Lee, Matt Riddle, and Velveteen Dream.
Karrion Kross (2-0) Kicks off NXT
Kross had an impressive debut, and he returns (with Scarlett) for his second NXT match. WWE didn’t reveal his victim for the evening. His wins in 2020 so far include Leon Ruff and Tom Lawlor from MLW.
Cruiserweight Tournament Action Continues
Tozawa (2-7) vs. El Hijo del Fantasma (1-1)
With Jack Gallagher and Isaiah Swerve Scott eliminated from the tournament, the winner of this match will advance to the finals. In tournament action, Tozawa is 2-0 while Fantasma is 1-1. Overall Records:
Tozawa has competed on Monday Night Raw losing to Angel Garza, Jinder Mahal, Andrade, Austin Theory, Aleister Balck, AJ Styles, and AJ Styles again in the Last Chance Gauntlet Match. On NXT, he is undefeated with victories over Jack Gallagher and Isaiah Swerve Scott.
Fantasma also has a victory over Jack Gallagher, but he lost to Isaiah Swerve Scott.
Kushida vs. Drake Maverick
If Kushida wins, he advances to the finals. If Drake Maverick wins, he creates a three-way tie between himself, Kushida, and Jake Atlas. You can’t determine a winner from head to head matches because that’s tied too.
Kushida is 2-0 in tournament action and Maverick is 1-1. Overall Records:
Kushida holds victories over Danny Burch, Raul Mendoza, Joaquin Wilde, Tony Nese, and Jake Atlas. His only loss of 2020 was to the NXT Champion Adam Cole.
Drake Maverick only has the Cruiserweight tournament matches to his credit in 2020. This includes a victory over Tony Nese and a loss to Jake Atlas.
